All you should know about Snapp, Iran’s Uber
Travelling as a backpacker or budget traveler, you are always looking for the best facilities to use in order to enjoy your trip and still pay as little money as possible. If you have been already in travel forums about Iran, you may have heard about Snapp, one of the best transportation applications to get to the hotel from airport or to move across the cities.
Lunched in 2014, the advantage of Snapp over the old local agency taxi service was its price and also customer services. Depending on the time of a day you want to use the service, traffic, distance and also weather, the prices would change but it is still much lower than old local services.
The other most important feature which Snapp provided for customers was its support services. Customer can give score to each driver based on their behavior, driving skill and other factors, a system in which drivers with lower points will be dismissed if they cannot change their overall attitude. The price is the Snapp’s other positive point. When you ask for a service, the app will show you the price you should pay in advance, unlike the old version of taking a taxi called “Darbast” in Persian in which the driver often asked for more money.
Though Snapp is not the only online transportation application you can use in Iran but it is the first one and also the most advanced one. First starting its work in Tehran, it is now accessible in main cities including Shiraz, Karaj, Shiraz and Mashhad and many more. Its newest version support English and French as well as Farsi and unlike Uber, you can pay either in cash or with your debit card online.

How to download Snapp?
In August 2017, due to sanctions, Apple remove some popular apps in Iran from its app store including snap. However you can still download it from other resources.
If you are using an android phone, you can download Snapp from Google Play. But for apple devices, you can download the application here. Installing the app, go to “Device Management”, “General” and then choose “Profile and Device Management”. Then you should choose “Desert Internet Services FZEand finally choose “Trust”, now you can use the app.
Important notes:
- To receive the initial confirmation code to use the app, you should have an Iranian SIM card.
- Although you can pay both in cash and also via debit cards, you should know that as in other places in Iran, you cannot use your international cards and you should have an Iranian debit card to pay online.
